Project 52 – Week 30 – “Elephants on the Serengeti”

I’m finally back. First a little health update. I have had 3 eye surgeries in the last 6-8 months. One was very major…a torn retina. That one I was lucky and didn’t lose my sight. It took me several months to recover from and was not able to see well enough to create anything. Even when I could see out of it, there were a couple of issues. First, stuff kinda leans to the right, which is very unnerving. Second, even though I had ok vision in that eye, I have a horrible cataract in the other as well as horrible vision in that eye. I wore my old glasses, looking out of the cataract eye during healing so I could see to work, but since the vision in the torn retina had technically been corrected when I got that cataract removed, I couldn’t see through the prescription glasses and had to keep that eye closed most of the time.

Well, a couple of weeks ago I finally had the second cataract removed and the new lens put in so I have 2020 in my right eye now and can see to do some creating! This has excited me beyond measure, but I had to go back to the drawing board and relearn a lot about Photoshop.

The picture below is my first since I restarted. It’s definitely not my favorite or my best work, but it’s kind of growing on me. That being said, I have made the executive decision to pick up Project 52 where I left off. I didn’t stop because of laziness, lack of drive, or anything like that. I just couldn’t see so I decided not to hold that against myself. It’s my Project 52 so I can decide the interpretation of my rules.

Now that the updates and housekeeping are out of the way, let’s get to the composite!

I was trying to go for a kinda of colored sketch which I believe I got. I’m not sure where I got the pic from. It was just in my stash so it’s probably stock. That being said, the only AI I used was to remove some giant ant hills with generative fill. Photoshop has starting embedding that AI was used in a pic, even if it was just a simple generative fill.

Hope you like it! Its good to be back!
