A couple of weeks ago I posted the composite “Thinking Of…” on Social Media and someone asked me if I had painted it. While I had done work to make it look like a painting, I had not actually painted anything, but it got me thinking. What would it be like to paint in photoshop? I found some training on an easier way to do it in photoshop and tried my hand. I have to say it was fun, but the initial results are not quite “painted” enough for me. Below is a picture of a pelican that I took down at the beach in South Texas. The top is the original picture and the bottom is the painted one. If you zoom in, you can see that the lower one was painted but during normal viewing, there is not much difference.
Even in these larger versions, it’s hard to tell the difference. In all honesty, my only way of telling the difference at this size is the signature block. I’m going to keep working to make the paintings look less like a photograph and more like a painting. I should say that I have other ways of making it look like a painting which you have seen and will continue to see on here, but I will definitely be working on the ACTUAL painting in the future.
