Here are days 297 and 298. I can see the finish line!

For St. Patrick’s Day, they (attempt) to dye the San Antonio river green, so I went down and tried to shoot some pics.
So here is today’s Project 365 shot. It brings with it quite a story.
This whole thing started today when I decided that I would try to photograph water droplets. We’ve all seen these wonderful pictures of water plopping either in or out of a dish. Even thought they are a little cliche’, I decided to try it. I got a variety of bowls and an eyedropper and kinda worked out a timing technique with the 2 second auto timer on the XS. Now I also must let you know that I don’t have anything ever resembling a lighting setup. I have an old, really hot halogen shop light and a desk lamp with a 60 watt flourscent bulb. I set these up on either side of the bowl and began practicing the technique. After several shots, I just wasn’t getting the results I wanted so I decided to reposition the lights. First, I moved the lamp. No major problem. Then I grabbed the halogen, and, in case you’re curious, it was hot!!! I kinda pushed it a little to hard trying to get my hand away. Well, to make a long story short, the halogen sprung off of it’s perch and nose dived right in the bowl of water. At which point the water made a hasty retreat for the floor. Now in waters attempted landing on the floor, he drifted to the side and landed right on top of the power strip that Mr. Halogen had been plugged into…which was, of course, still live. Meanwhile, Mr. halogen had made himself comfortable on a wooden support table which was now expressing it’s displeasure by emanating an odor that had the distinct smell of burning wood.
I quickly killed the power to the light, grabbed my camera to get it out of the way of the uproar (you gotta have priorities, I always say) and then grabbed the halogen and set it up right. It was this final process that reminded me how the whole the started because I burned the crap out of myself again. Finally I let the whole mess cool down and dry off and decided that water wasn’t the way to play today. But sake’ might just be! Hence the current shot.
