I finally got the first roll of file shot on Linwood’s Nikon. Most of you have already read or heard the story of how I came by this treasure, but I am remembering why it takes much more talent to shoot film than digital, something Linwood had in abundance. At any rate, there were a few that weren’t horrible.

I was reading an article from my favorite photographer, David duChemin, that talked about trying some different angles with things you photograph a lot. Every year I photograph the blooming cactus on the ranch, so I decided to try shooting them from underneath. I was quite surprised and pleased with the results.
Wandered in and around the cactus patch today (yes, in shorts and flip flops) and took some shots.
I had a big friend for company!
I went out today and took some shots of the cactus around the ranch. We have such a bad drought going on that none of them look terribly healthy, but some (see last picture) look better than others. The first picture is a macro shot of a spent cactus bud. It used to have a flower, which you can see numerous shots I took on here or here. The buds are kinda cool too, though.
As always, if you want to see more pictures or these in a larger (much larger) size, just click on the picture to go to my fickr page. Enjoy.
